How should my knapsack be stored?
Scotty Firefighter knapsacks are made using the highest quality of fabrics and materials to withstand the rigours of wildland firefighting.
When stored the knapsack and pump should be flushed with clean water then dried and stored flat. Never store or carry a knapsack in a vehicle or rack by the harness full of water.
How should my Scotty Backpack be cleaned?
The bladder and nylon shoulder straps should be first washed with mild soapy water and lightly scrubbed to remove soot and contaminants. The pump should be disassembled and the pump valve inspected. Check for tears in the bladder fabric. Scotty Australia recommends lubricating the hand pump and the o-ring in the lid prior to storage.
- The knapsack and pump should be emptied entirely of water then dried prior to storage.
- Drying the bladder before storage will prevent mildew forming.
- Scotty Firefighter Australia Recommends that the knapsack should be stored flat when not in use. To save space the bladder may be folded into three.
